It reports on the use of innovation technology in a range of other companies and organizations, from pharmaceuticals in GSK, to engineering design in Ricardo engineering, and welding in TWI. About the Author
Mark Dodgson is Director of the Technology and Innovation Management Centre at the University of Queensland Business School, University of Queensland, Visiting Professor at the Tanaka Business School, Imperial College London, and is an International Fellow at the Advanced Institute of Management Research in the U.K. . He was previously Executive Director of the National Graduate School of Management at the Australian National University. Mark has lecutured and researched widely trhoughout Europe, North America, Asian, and Latin America, and has been an invited participant at international conferences in over 35 countries. He has been an advisor and consultant to many European Commission Programs and to numerous U.K., U.S., European, Asian, and Australian government departments and agencies. David Gann is Head of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology Management at the Tanaka Business School, Imperial College London. David holds the Chair in Technology and Innovation Management and co-directs the Imperial College Innovative Manufacturing Research Centre. He is responsible for a large portfolio of research involving collaboration with firms in design, manufacturing, engineering, construction, I.C.T. services and healthcare industries. His research interests include the intensification of innovation, use of simulation and modeling in innovation processes, and managing innovation in project-based firms. He consults with several leading companies and is an advisor to governments and industry organisations. He previously held the Royal Academy of Engineering Chair in Innovative Manufacturing at the University of Sussex. Ammon Salter is Senior Lecturer in Technology and Innovation Management at the Tanaka Business School, Imperial College London. He is the author of several reports and articles on the sources and determinants of innovation. He was the author of the C.V.C.P./H.E.F.C.E. Doug Sayers has been a Christian believer since 1975. He is an active member of the Gideons International. He and his wife, Julie, have two sons, two daughters, and 4 grandchildren. They own and operate a small business in the greater Cincinnati area. He enjoys Bible study, golf (when playing well), and watching Ohio State lose on the fourth Saturday of November.

A Heavy Topic Explained Well

You can tell that the author did his research before diving into this very extensive theological discussion! I would recommend this book to anyone seeking to explore the age old question of grace vs. free will. The author does a great job of explaining a very heavy topic in more common terms. I loved the extensive scripture reference index in the back.

If you have already made your mind up about Calvinism, if it's an emotional hot topic for you, then this book will most likely not change your mind (see above review), however, if you are looking for a sound counter argument to the doctrine of Calvinism, then this is your book!

A presentation of an old Heresy long ago refuted!

I knew the author but have not seen him for a number of years. As he has confessed he was once a person who held the views
that he so strongly attacks in this little book. He holds back nothing in the book in his language about what deceitful, devious
people these are that hold to the hated "Calvinism". He tells us early on what a humble man he is and just a laymen but throughout the book he attacks (and that is what it is) some of the greatest men in the history of the Christian church. He attacks
St. Augustine, Luther, Calvin, Spurgeon, J. Edwards, R.C. Sproul and any and all who have been involved in the hated doctrine
of Calvinism. He holds that, contrary to the Bible and Calvinists, that Salvation is a matter of the will of man and his supposed
ability to have saving faith in himself to ratify the salvation God provides to sinners. This is done by the latent faith in all men he
says and that in the fall he did not lose his spiritual life. He of course is promoting the doctrine of a conditional salvation that is not
by "Grace Alone" as the Reformers set forth, but by merit in cooperation with God. This of course is the doctrine of a monk called
Pelagius, who was a popular teacher active in Rome about A.D. 383-410 and later in Palestine around A.D 424. The doctrine which Doug is pushing is nothing more or less than the doctrine of Pelagius which was exposed by St. Augustine and rejected
soundly by the church councils. Sad to say that he is still alive and well within Roman Catholicism, Arminianism and those who
never attend church. The basic tenant is held by all men by nature, that the are, "Captain and master" of their destinies. The
Bible teaches that we are, "dead in trespasses and sins" and we have no spiritual life with God by virtue of our nature in Adam.
We all sin daily and are strangers to God by nature and there is "none righteous, no not one!" says the Scripture!
This book does not turn men to God it turns men to look to themselves as the only way to be saved. Trust in your faith it says.
The Scriptures and the Reformers say that salvation is by truth that come by "Scripture alone," as a work of "Grace alone", embraced by "faith alone", through "Christ alone," to the "Glory of God Alone." Salvation rests upon God alone and whenever man puts himself in His
place it becomes no more that a works salvation that is no different than unrevealed religions of men and that is what the Author is serving up in this book.

I finished reading this book a while ago and felt that I did not have the heart or energy to write a review but felt I should. The Author has
a gift of writing and I am sorry he is using it this way. We must all stand before the judgement seat of Christ and give account
for our stewardship of what God has given us not for what we have earned by nature. I deserve to go to hell but because of
the grace of God and for His son, Jesus Christ, who offered Himself up freely for my sake, I am justified by faith. I am "saved
by Grace, through faith, and that not of myself, but it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast!' Turn away from those who would subvert the grace of God and the gifts He has given to the church in the past and present and don't return
to the wide path of self help and self salvation merited by a presumed ability that man has by nature. Read the Bible and ask God to direct your way and He will! Don't turn from what God has given in previous ages to the church and
go off on your own understanding. Be sure of it that any doctrine that does not give all glory to God is no doctrine of
the Scripture. Humble yourself under His word and lean not to your own understanding. I love the great men of the faith and to
question their motives and actions in declaring the Glory of God and giving Glory to Him alone is far different than this book which exalts the absent abilities of man. Calvinism which the Author attacks so vehemently was nothing but the "Grand old Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and Apostles. It was first called Calvinism as a result of the Synod of Dort held in 1618 & 1619 to review the teachings of the followers of Jacobus Arminius, known as the five statements of Arminius and they refuted them with the Scriptures. The Five points of Refutation were called the five points of Calvinism in the honor of John Calvin the great Reformer. The Author rejects those who stood for the Truth of God's Word and joins with those denounced as heretics in the past. May God in His grace turn the author, to His word, which humbles man and exalts God!

Finally a Frazetta sketchbook

The Frazetta Sketchbook is actually part of the Vanguard published series of sketchbooks. Before this there were John Romita, Al Williamson, Wally Wood, Jeffrey Jones, John Buscema, Neal Adams and Alex Horley.

This book is focused on the sketches, unlike the finished paintings you see from the other artbooks like Icon, Legacy and Testament.

There are sketches, coloured painting drafts and life drawings. Subjects are those easily associated with Frazetta such as barbarians, wild beasts, bosomy damsels, monsters, Death Dealer, Tarzan and Conan. Most sketches are accompanied by the finished paintings for comparison, with some text.

As with Frazetta, his lines and the way he poses his characters are always amazing.

Great book for the Frazetta fans and sketchbook collectors.

Great for any student of Frazetta!

There's something about a sketchbook that really shows you how great an artist really is. If you're like mine and love seeing how drawings start or like the nitty gritty rough stuff of how a idea comes to life then you'll love this book. It has rough and basic sketches of some of Frazetta's most famous paintings (like The Sea Witch for example) and really gives you insight on the thought process behind his work.

Some people won't like it because there's no shiny or fully colored pictures, and to each their own. But if you want to know what the foundations of all his painting's looked like and how such marvelous art came from a few gesture drawings, then you'll love this.

Only thing that really pissed me off is how complete Frazetta could make a drawing using only a few lines. I've been drawing most of my life and I can't get as much detail as he could sketching something out on a bar napkin. Great book!

My dad is a HUGE fan of Frazettas work so I decided to pick this up for his b-day. Personally, I haven't thumbed through it, but he says there are tons of pieces in there that he has not seen before.

This is a classical book. It covers standard finite difference methods for PDEs. Half of the book is dedicated to elliptic equations, the other half is divided between methods for parabolic and hyperbolic equations. In addition, it contains a very nice description of applied problems, some of them are still a source of research topics or tests for new numerical methods. The analysis of numerical schemes are based on Fourier techniques, maximum principles (elliptic problems), and Lax's theorem. Some material in the book is outdated, this is particulary true for the iterative methods for solving linear equations. However, this book will remain as standard reference for finite difference methods and as a source of historical information related to numerical methods. Dover's edition provides an excellent hardcover version of it. Its initial costs was about 75$ but it can be found many second hand offers around 15 $, which is an extemely low price for a hardcover book.

One of my favorites of 2014

It's a testament to the power of this story and the conviction of Robin Oliveira's writing that I'm able to look back and review this book almost six months after reading it. Oliveira's first novel - My Name is Mary Sutter - is on my list of all-time favorite historical novels so when I saw that her follow-up book looked at one of my favorite times and places in history (the Belle Epoque Paris of the Impressionists), I was beyond excited.

I've been disappointed by a lot of historical novels lately - they either seemed to lack ambition or would have been better served by a focused editor's eye. I Always Loved You is the exact opposite - a considered work of art in its own right that looks at the twisted demands of art, family and love and that brings late 19th century Paris to life.

The novel is beautiful in its simplicity - a short opening chapter that introduces the reader to an older Mary Cassatt then moves seamlessly into two stories based on the real lives of the small, interwoven group of men and women who would become known as the Impressionists. The main story focuses on the artistic and emotional development of Mary Cassatt, one of the few female painters in the group. In a richly detailed third-person narrative, we're brought close in to the daily frustrations of an artist at a critical juncture in her working life, that time when a painter or a writer or a musician knows enough to know that they have so much more to learn. At this moment, she meets Edgar Degas and begins an acquaintance that shifts and grows and fractures with time, defying categorization but always influencing her artistic development in unexpected ways. A secondary plot, exploring the love triangle between Manet and his sister-in-law Berthe Moirsot throws Mary and Edgar's relationship into relief, providing perspective and a deep thread of melancholy through the story.

Some historical fiction readers may find the gradual development of personalities and relationships too slow and lacking in the more dramatic narrative twists and turns that mark the genre - I found the difference refreshing. Despite my excitement, I found myself reading this one slowly and that it took time for me to develop an appreciation for the unusual rhythms of the story generated by the short (4-6 page) chapters.

I rarely buy books after checking them out of the library or receiving e-galley copies. But there are some cases when I want to support the author and in some small way thank them for working for years to craft a story that has brought me so much joy. I'm looking forward to returning to I Always Loved You again and again as the years go by.

A different kind of love story.

This is the story of Mary Cassatt and Edgar Degas during a time of great changes in the art world of Paris. Mary had moved to Paris from America to pursue a career as an artist to learn for the locals. It was there that she met Edgar who offered to help her show her work. They seemed to have an a rather unusual relationship but fairly understandable for the time period. It is pretty obvious that they loved each other. However, they never seemed to be able to give each other what was needed.
The strength of this book is the author's incorporation of the growth of certain styles of art and how they developed and the people who developed them. The characters and their interactions in relation to each other and to their art is fascinating. It also shows us how the artists seem to have to suffer in order to produce superior art. I felt the book was very well written and easy for someone with limited art history knowledge to understand and to enjoy.

Real World: Paris, 19th Century Artist Edition

Finish time: 9 nights. After my last book, I was hoping for a bit of an easier read, but somehow I ended up on this one that took me almost as long. And centered around art again too. Hmmm. Not a bad thing, just kind of funny. I had a love, hate relationship with this book, but after thinking about it the last day, I did like it, and it’s prompted me to want to learn more on a topic 10 days ago I had no interest in. So I’d take that as a sign of a good book.

Having no background in art history, I could recognize some of the names, but I had no idea much more about them. And this is a random comparison, but what kept popping into my head after I finished on how to describe this book is: Real World: Paris, 19th Century Or the Impressionists. And the people all happened to be artists. Renoir, Manet, Monet, Cassatt, Degas, Morisot, Pissaro (and many more). Some names familiar to me, others not, but in my brief Wikipedia research, they all were real (and quite the motley crew), as were the other characters in the book. I guess it was also a “before they were famous” story too. A bunch of starving artists spending their days dreaming, painting, partying, trying to make a buck, and preparing for the next exhibition.

The main character in the book was Mary Cassatt, an American painter, invited to join the group, and her struggle to fit in among the Paris natives, and make a name for herself in the Paris art scene. Her relationship throughout the book with Degas is a fun, yet very frustrating one. Her family comes to join her in Paris too and even in the 1800′s, her struggles with them were so easy to relate to. I especially enjoyed her relationship with her sister Lydia (again who I confirmed was real.)

Fun facts were thrown in all over the place, like her friend Abigail Alcott, whose more famous sister is Louisa May Alcott, the author of Little Women. At some points, I felt a map of Paris would have been helpful as they discussed a lot of landmarks, not a bad thing, and not that I know Paris, but would have been fun to see in the book. But overall the book was just packed with great stories, complex and compelling relationships, and a ton of history.

As you can guess from the title, a love story too, but what’s fun is that it actually could be a few love stories. A lot of plot lines are intertwined, and I was confused at some points, but as I said when I started, the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. Look out for it in just a few weeks. This is the perfect historical fiction.

I also found after the fact if you go to the author's website you can find a chapter by chapter list of all the artwork referenced, which is a really cool guide and I would have loved to have handy while reading!

Pude leer la novela desde la pagina del autor y he quedado encantada. Es una historia apasionante donde el vampiro esclavo se vuelve la mayor tentaci�n de la protagonista. Una novela llena de erotismo, historia, romance y mucho suspenso. Te lleva de emocion en emoci�n, queriendo leer m�s! muy recomendada!

Me pregunt� qu� har�a yo si tuviera la posibilidad de tener un vampiro a mi merced. Debo reconocer que nunca fui muy fan�tica del g�nero, porque pensaba que todos los vampiros eran demasiado crueles, pero como con el tiempo los gustos cambian, puedo asegurar que he aprendido a entender este tipo de personajes, y si la historia tiene romance, se vuelve m�gica. Una historia sorprendente, la verdad me engancho de principio a fin por lo sorprendente de la trama, me lleve una sorpresa cuando me di cuenta por donde iba la historia, es una historia cargada de erotismo, amor y sacrificio hacia la familia, es lindo ver como el amor todo lo puede a pesar de tantas diferencias y de tanta maldad, me gusta mucho como la autora reflejo en esta novela las escenas de erotismo ya que no tienen nada que ver con lo vulgar ni lo ordinario.

La recomiendo ampliamente seguro los enganchara como conmigo.

Hilarious, Raw and Relevant

Ashes of Light is a fantastic read! I am a Professor of Theater and have taught and directed for many years. It always touches and amazes me when a playwright can so vididly capture a specific culture and yet still make the story universal. Julio Cesar returns home to find the place where he grew up smaller than he remembered (in more ways than one) and the claustrophia is only rivaled by the weight of his loss. His dad left him without his name and without a clear understanding of where he came from. Even though his mother, Luz, struggles to understand his life so far away from home, she herself has detached herself from her own family in the Dominican Republic. It's that horrible moment when you realize that what you've been running from your whole life, you've now become....your mother! So raw and so real. So funny!

Hysterical and Poignant

I saw the original play performed in NYC and not only it made me LAUGH so hard I cried, but also made me feel so much for all the characters. I HAD to buy the book. It's an excellent play and a great read. I haven't seen the Dominican people in New York captured with this authenticity in a play before. There are themes throughout people can relate to. Above all family. I was glued to the pages just waiting for what each of the characters would say next. They're all so funny and so deep at the same time. Mr. Rodriguez is definitely a playwright to watch and I was glad to see the play won all those awards, because it so deserved them. I also just heard he won the Nuestras Voces competition at Repertorio Espa�ol in New York with his new play. I'm VERY excited to see it. I DEFINITELY recommend Ashes of Light.

Saw the play and was automatically transported back to the front of the stage at the Teatro La Tea. Brilliant precise translation of this play. Enjoyed it on stage and on my kindle.
