Mark E. Young�is Professor at the University of Central Florida. He received his bachelor’s degree from Miami University, his master’s from Wright State University, and his doctorate from Ohio University. He has trained helpers for more than 25 years and worked as a therapist in community mental health, private practice, college counseling centers, and corrections for more than 15 years. Since 2003 he has been affiliated with the Marriage and Family Research Institute teaching relationship skills to low-income couples. Interesting content, minimal presentation.

The book arrived quickly, and it was interesting. Although I enjoyed it, it seems a bit overpriced for the quality of the printing. This is essentially one essay presented in two languages with minimal binding and cover. Its small size did make it good to keep in the bag for a quick read. Most of the ideas conveyed here are also in Caliban and the Witch, where they are explored much more thoroughly. I recommend a reader start there.

Like the mirror, I can't lie...

A wonderful story about how the wicked queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs became so wicked.
I like to casually browse the Young Adult section at Borders and B&N and I'm very influenced by cover art. Reading the inside flap, I only needed one sentence to sway me. I bought it immediately and started reading once I got home. I have to say that the author caught the Disney version of the characters perfectly and I believe that's the way it should be.
The writing was well written and it moved quickly for me. The end of each chapter made me want to know what would happen next and it provided great imagery for my imagination. I watched the classic Snow White right away with the thought of the Queen's life and it changed the whole movie for me-in a good way!
It even has a nice twist at the end. I definitely recommend this to anyone who appreciates an alternate view on a classic.

Fairest of All is the Wicked Queen's story... what drove her to become soooo wicked.

Firstly I want to say that the moment I saw this cover - I absolutely had to buy it. It really is spectacular. Secondly, the fact that it is a prequel to Snow White - obviously "had me at Hello".

Ms. Valentino did a wonderful job blending what we already know of Snow White and the Wicked Queen with this new tale. In it we learn of how the Wicked Queen became the bitter and well, evil witch we've known for years. We are taken back to the days where she lived with her father, an artist in crafting mirrors. We also read of her marriage, her dreams, hopes and eventually her downfall. Although I did find her a wee bit whiny at times, I thought she was a very interesting character with lots of emotional turmoil. I really sympathized with her as her life was definitely not an easy one.

This is definitely a YA title - but I would recommend it more for older teens vs. the younger tweens. The content is a bit dark at times. Reading this was like getting inside information on one of my favorite Disney villains. And I really enjoyed the fact that it had a couple of twists thrown in that I didn't see coming. I recommend this to anyone who'd like a new twist to this classic fairytale.

I went into Fairest of All a bit skeptical. Gregory Maguire has pretty much set the standard with Wicked in writing stories of the misunderstood villains from beloved fables. I must say I was very pleased! The book is a quick read, but a fairly deep one. The insight given from the Queens POV provides a glimpse of her upbringing and the life that hardened her. I will admit the gorgeous cover drew me in. I'm also a huge Disney buff. Very nice tie in to the animated masterpiece. Highly recommended!

This book has been a blessing for me. I am starting over being a new mom again after 18 years since my last pregnancy and it has eased my anxiety with how much things have changed over the years. Great book!

Perfect Book for First Time and Second Time Parents

I love this book! I bought it more for my husband who is a first time dad. It had the answers to all his questions and more! It also helped him better understand that he was not alone in many situations, and that something he once thought was "not normal" turned out to be nothing for him to worry about. Example: every time a baby sneezes doesn't mean he's sick. It also gave him a great list of questions to ask while interviewing for pediatricians.

I'm a second time mom, but I had my first son 13 years ago, so this time around I just wanted a quick refresher on life with a baby. I ended up reading the whole book! It was a great way to spend the last month while you're too uncomfortable to do anything and just anticipating the arrival of your baby. And I was actually surprised how much I learned!

This is especially nice, as being a new mom is already overwhelming. I just flip to a seemingly applicable section and quickly find answers to my worried mom questions. Everything is laid out and organized perfectly. The glossary makes things easy to find. It has been very helpful .

I HATE WRITING REVIEWS

First off, I HATE WRITING REVIEWS, but I know Authors need them to survive and make readers aware of their work, so you can rest assured that if I have posted any kind of review you will know that you have found a pearl that will enrich your reading experience beyond measure (at least in my view).
My reviews do not dwell on the story line or the characters in the story, they just let you know that I found the story interesting, enjoyable and believe you will also, so be brave and pick up a copy, sit down and experience it for yourself just as I did. (I don’t read other peoples reviews, before buying a book)
That is all folks, the only other thing I can say is that I am looking forward to the next book from this Author as I really enjoyed this book.
